Patna: Patna high court has granted anticipatory bail to RJD MLA Osama Shahab in a case related to alleged criminal intimidation and extortion involving a woman from Gorakhpur who had purchased land in Siwan district.A single bench of justice Khatim Reza allowed Shahab’s pre-arrest bail plea and directed that he be released on bail in the event of his arrest or surrender. Shahab represents the Raghunathpur Assembly constituency.An FIR was lodged against Shahab at Mahadeva police station in Siwan on April 26. Complainant Dr Sudha Singh alleged that the MLA assaulted workers and obstructed the construction of a boundary wall on her land in Jhunapur village.Senior counsel Naresh Dixit, appearing for Shahab, argued that his client was innocent and was already contesting ownership of the land in a Siwan civil court. He said Shahab’s wife had bought the property in 2023, while the complainant purchased the same plot in 2024, resulting in a title dispute.The high court had stayed Shahab’s arrest in the case two months ago.
