Cong shielding Pinarayi in CMRL-Exalogic case, alleges BJP
BJP state president Rajeev Chandrasekhar

Thiruvananthapuram: BJP state president Rajeev Chandrasekhar on Tuesday accused Congress of colluding with CPM to protect opposition leader Pinarayi Vijayan in the CMRL-Exalogic graft case.In a statement, he said the Congress-led govt acted only after the HC held that the Enforcement Directorate’s letter and evidence were enough to register an FIR. The FIR was registered four days after the court order, and Vijayan filed an appeal in the HC half an hour later, he said. Chandrasekhar asked whether the delay was meant to give Vijayan time to approach the court. He also questioned the special investigation team’s probe. Seventeen days after the SIT was formed, the steps it has taken remain unclear, he said, though the law allows a maximum of 14 days for a preliminary inquiry.Chandrasekhar alleged that Congress and Muslim League fear the ED’s evidence on hawala transactions could implicate some members of V D Satheesan’s cabinet. He said Congress was delaying legal action to protect its own political interests, and that Congress and CPM had come together in Kerala as well as nationally.
