Patna: The Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC) on Friday warned outsourcing agencies of action for failing to provide the required manpower and directed officials to lodge FIRs against those allegedly obstructing sanitation works during the ongoing strike by civic workers.At a review meeting chaired by municipal commissioner Yashpal Meena, officials were instructed to deploy additional sanitation workers in affected wards, conduct special night cleaning drives under police protection and ensure both biometric and manual attendance of workers. Meena said agencies failing to meet contractual obligations would face penal action.The civic body also appealed to striking workers to resume duty, stating that demands within its jurisdiction had already been addressed, while the remaining issues had been forwarded to higher authorities. However, the strike is set to continue.Chandra Prakash Singh, president of the PMC Joint Employees Coordination Committee, said workers would not be intimidated by the civic body’s measures. “These steps will not deter employees from demanding their basic rights,” Singh said.He alleged that despite receiving the strike notice more than a month ago, the civic body neither initiated negotiations nor addressed the workers’ concerns and was instead threatening employees seeking their legitimate rights.
