Chandigarh: The Chandigarh administration Monday launched the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga – 150 Years of Vande Mataram’ campaign with a cultural programme featuring patriotic performances and a Tiranga march.Organised by the departments of culture and tourism, the event aimed to promote patriotism, national pride and public participation in the campaign. Chief Secretary Rajesh Prasad was the chief guest.Students took part in a Tiranga march on the college campus, while officials announced a series of Jan Bhagidari activities from August 9 to 17. These include Tiranga rallies, a walkathon, bike and car rallies, selfie booths, rangoli and rakhi-making workshops, a Tiranga Mela, quizzes, letter-writing competitions, nukkad nataks, cultural programmes and exhibitions.Govt buildings and tourist locations across the city will also be illuminated and decorated as part of the celebrations. Schools, colleges and youth groups have been encouraged to participate in theme-based activities.The administration will also observe Partition Horrors Remembrance Day on Aug 14 with exhibitions, film screenings, a play, experience-sharing sessions by Partition-affected families, a silent march and displays of archival material.
