Hyderabad: Police officials on Saturday booked a case against unknown persons for putting up posts on social media that alleged that a Telangana high court judge was being unduly influenced by Union minister of state for home Bandi Sanjay during the hearing of his son’s anticipatory bail hearing in a POCSO case .On Saturday, BS Chiranjeevi, the high court’s registrar (judicial) lodged a complaint with the Charminar police over concocted information being circulated on social media. The minister’s son, Bandi Bageerath, has been booked under section 5 of the Pocso Act that relates to aggravated penetrative sexual assault with a minor and invites a jail term of up to 20 years.During the hearing on Friday, the high court refused to give Bageerath interim protection from arrest and said it would hear the case on May 21.The registrar stated that “concocted news” was circulated on social media on May 14, alleging that a Union minister was using every tactic to protect his son and that he was allegedly trying to influence the senior vacation judge. The complainant also alleged that the image of the judiciary was being tarnished due to the wide circulation of the false information and requested the police to register a case.Charminar police station officials said they registered a case under sections related to creating, publishing, or circulating statements, false information, rumours, or reports; publishing or forwarding false information via social media with the malicious intent to create hatred or tension between various communities and intentional insult or interruption to public servant sitting in judicial proceeding of the BNS on Saturday.
