Patna: With the monsoon season approaching, the Bihar Urban Infrastructure Development Corporation (Buidco) has placed all its officials and employees on high alert. Acting on the directions of managing director Animesh Kumar Parashar, the agency has launched a comprehensive pre-monsoon inspection drive across the state to prevent waterlogging, accidents and infrastructure-related hazards during the rainy season.Under the campaign, every drain, road and construction site will be physically inspected and reports will be submitted directly to the headquarters. To ensure accountability, the managing director has introduced a special reporting format that all Buidco employees — from Patna to Sitamarhi and Muzaffarpur to Bhagalpur — must follow. Officials said these reports are not mere formalities but crucial documents linked to public safety.Inspection teams have been directed to focus on four key areas – proper barricading of construction sites to prevent accidents, ensuring no manholes are left uncovered, checking that major drainage channels remain free of obstructions, and verifying timely road restoration after excavation works so that potholes do not pose risks during heavy rainfall.During a meeting on Sunday, Parashar made it clear that any laxity in carrying out pre-monsoon inspections would not be tolerated.“Officials have been instructed to upload photographs of every site, along with geo-tagged details. Project directors, deputy project directors and assistant project directors have also been asked to actively monitor the process,” he said.Addressing officials, Parashar stressed that if waterlogging or any untoward incident occurs during the monsoon because of negligence in reporting, the concerned officials would be held personally accountable.“Strict action, including penalties, debarment and blacklisting, will also be taken against construction companies found responsible for lapses in their projects. During the rainy season, a larger number of employees will be deployed in the field rather than in offices to ensure swift response and effective management of urban infrastructure challenges,” Parashar said.
