Amid chatter about the much-anticipated sequel to Ayan Mukerji’s ‘Brahmastra’, a new report details an exciting update about Alia Bhatt’s role in the film that reportedly reunites her with husband, Ranbir Kapoor.
Alia Bhatt to return in ‘Brahmastra 2’
The actress, who played the female lead in the hit film, is set to make an ‘extended appearance’ in the sequel that is expected to feature Ranbir in a dual role and will also star Deepika Padukone in a leading role.According to a report by Bollywood Hungama, the makers have already locked Alia Bhatt for the sequel. “Alia will have an extended appearance in Brahmastra 2 and is expected to shoot for around 25 days. The film itself is planned as an approximately 125-day shoot,” a source told the publication.
About ‘Brahmastra 2’
The report further adds that ‘Brahmastra 2’ will largely revolve around the characters of Ranbir’s character Dev and Deepika’s character, Amrita, teased in the 2022 film. While the development has generated considerable buzz, reports state that the makers of ‘Brahmastra 2’ are still in talks with Deepika to play a full-fledged role as Amrita. Should she sign on the dotted line, it would mark her reunion with Ranbir.

The sequel is expected to revolve around the characters of Dev and Amrita, reportedly to be played by Ranbir and Deepika, respectively. Following rumours that the film was initially set to star Ranveer Singh in the lead, opposite Deepika, new reports stated that Ranbir would return to play a dual role in the film, portraying both the characters – Shiva and Dev. While Alia is rumoured to be paired opposite RK’s character of Shiva, Deepika is expected to play Dev’s wife. Conversations with Deepika are still underway, with the actress’ packed schedule and personal life as she gears up to welcome her second child.
‘Brahmastra’ to go on floors in April 2027
Ayan Mukerji, meanwhile, is said to be working extensively on the sequel and has reportedly finalised the script. Earlier this week, it was reported that Ranbir is scheduled to begin shooting for the highly anticipated sequel in April 2027.The sequel will follow the 2022 release ‘Brahmastra: Part One – Shiva’, which starred Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt in the lead roles and also featured Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan and Mouni Roy as the antagonist. At the time, ‘Brahmastra’ was announced as a trilogy.
