Boy who thrashed KG girl in school needs treatment, says report

Panchkula: The Class 3 boy who brutally thrashed a kindergarten girl at a Panchkula school needs immediate treatment, psychologists who evaluated him at a Chandigarh hospital have said in their report. The child underwent mental examination at Govt Medical College and Hospital, Sector 32, on court orders. Experts evaluated him over three days and said he must be treated to amend his behaviour, sources told TOI.The report has been submitted to Panchkula police, who will present it and the boy before the juvenile justice board on Wednesday. This will decide the next course of action. The report says that the child used to spend his time mostly with seniors. This was one of the factors that led psychologists to check if he had a mind more mature than his age but concluded it was not so, say sources. The child is in an observation home in Ambala and the girl he thrashed is recovering in hospital.A committee led by an additional deputy commissioner has been set up to examine this case, including how the school handled the incident and if it could have been prevented. District education officer (DEO) Suman Chaudhary held a four-hour-long meeting with the school principal and staff. She asked them about the behaviour of the boy. How was he in studies and had his behaviour changed during the three years of his schooling here? Was there any complaint against him prior to this case? A report in this regard will be prepared.
