Belagavi: The Belagavi City Corporation (BCC) on Thursday distributed motorised three-wheelers to persons with disabilities under the 5% grant scheme of its Poverty Alleviation Cell. A total of 26 eligible beneficiaries are being provided with motorised three-wheelers under the scheme.Speaking at the event held on BCC premises, MLA Asif Sait said the govt and the corporation have introduced several welfare schemes for the disabled, and beneficiaries should make the most of them. He added that persons with disabilities have inner strength and should face challenges with confidence and live without fear.Mayor Preeti Kamkar, who presided over the function, said BCC has launched various initiatives to empower the disabled and that the distribution of three-wheelers would help them lead independent lives.Deputy mayor Hanamant Kongali said eligible beneficiaries would continue to receive support under various schemes.BCC commissioner Kartik M, ruling party leader Santosh Pednekar, standing committee chairpersons Laxmi Rathod, Madhavi Raghoche and Brahmanand Mirajkar, deputy commissioners Udayakumar T and Siddu Hulloli, chief engineer Laxmi Nippanikar, Hanumant Kaladagi and corporators were present.
