Raipur: Relentless rain across south Chhattisgarh has begun to disrupt daily life in Sukma and Bijapur, where swollen rivers and overflowing culverts have cut off interior routes and forced rescue teams to step in.In Sukma, continuous rain over the past 24 hours has pushed up water levels in several rivers and streams. The Jagargunda-Silger road has been blocked after water began flowing over a bridge, while the Vedre river is also in spate.Traffic has also been hit on the Dornapal-Jagargunda route, where the Chintavagu stream is flowing over the bridge. The Sabari river has risen as well, raising concern over further disruption if rain continues.In neighbouring Bijapur, the rising Chintavagu river made crossing difficult for villagers. Home Guard personnel deployed boats to ferry residents safely across.The situation remains particularly difficult in remote villages, where a single flooded bridge can snap access to markets, hospitals and administrative centres. With more rain expected, rescue and relief teams have been kept on alert.
