Another man dies of suspected overdose at Mumbai concert
A 28-year-old man died after falling ill at an overnight music concert in Mumbai’s Worli.

MUMBAI: A 28-year-old man died after allegedly falling ill during an overnight music concert at the NSCI Dome in Mumbai’s Worli area, triggering a police probe into the circumstances surrounding the incident. The deceased has been identified as Vrishabh Mahendra Gangurde was a resident of Mahim. The incident occurred during the ‘Klangkuenstler All Night Long’ music event organised at the NSCI Dome. According to police, Gangurde had attended the concert with a female friend when both reportedly developed health complications during the event. They were rushed for medical assistance, where doctors managed to stabilise the woman, while Gangurde was declared dead.Tardeo Police have registered an Accidental Death Report (ADR) and initiated an investigation. Officials said the exact cause of death would be determined only after post-mortem and forensic reports are received.Preliminary inquiries indicate that Gangurde may have consumed alcohol before or during the concert. However, investigators are also probing other possibilities, including consumption of prohibited substances or any underlying medical condition.Police are recording statements of the victim’s friends, event organisers, venue staff and eyewitnesses. CCTV footage from the venue is also being examined to reconstruct the sequence of events leading to the death. The incident has once again raised concerns over safety arrangements at large entertainment events in Mumbai, including medical preparedness, crowd management and monitoring of substance abuse at concert venues. The case comes weeks after the alleged drug overdose deaths of two MBA students linked to a music event at Mumbai’s NESCO Exhibition Centre in Goregaon, which had led to multiple arrests and a wider investigation into a suspected drug supply network operating around music festivals and concerts.
