Kolkata: Amazon Business has posted a five-year CAGR of about 40% in Bengal, helping connect local entrepreneurs with small and medium buyers. On the consumer side, Amazon.in is seeing a festive-season spike, led by smartphones and other consumer electronics.Across Bengal, Amazon Business is being largely used to source IT accessories, packaging material and industrial spares.Amazon Business director Mitranjan Bhaduri said bulk B2B buying in Bengal is being driven primarily by Kolkata, followed by North 24 Parganas, South 24 Parganas, Howrah, Burdwan and East Midnapore. He said the marketplace is catering to a wide range of procurement needs across sectors such as textiles, leather, jute, engineering and food processing.Amazon India currently serves around 70,000 sellers and 20,000 local shops in Bengal, supported by nearly 100 delivery stations in the state. The company is investing about Rs 4,800 crore this year to expand its B2B network.“We are witnessing a decisive shift towards digital procurement across Bengal, especially as businesses gear up for the festive season. IT companies and service firms are seeking cost-effective and flexible purchasing options. Businesses across Bengal are adopting Amazon Business as their preferred partner for online purchasing, GST-compliant invoicing, bulk discounts and convenient delivery,” Bhaduri said.With the festive season underway, Amazon also plans to deepen engagement with retailers for bulk purchases.On festive trends, Bhaduri noted rising orders from tier-two and tier-three towns in Bengal. “Amazon.in is witnessing rising orders from tier 2 and 3 cities. Phones and other electronic gadgets are seeing high traction of sales on our B2C platform and it is followed by garments, cosmetics, trolley bags and other products.”
