Ahmedabad: An edible oil company has filed a criminal breach of trust complaint against its former administrative officer, alleging that he misappropriated over Rs 14 lakh collected in cash from customers for edible oil supplies across the city.According to an FIR registered with Bodakdev police on Monday, the individual was employed as an administrative officer with Ozone Procon Pvt Ltd from Feb 2025. His responsibilities included marketing edible oil and collecting payments from customers in Vastral, Madhupura and Sarkhej.The complaint states that between Feb and April 2026, he allegedly collected cash payments amounting to Rs 16.5 lakh from 13 customers but failed to deposit the money with the company or hand it over to the concerned area managers.The company claimed that an internal audit and inquiry revealed the alleged irregularities. When the company’s internal auditor and area manager visited the employee at his residence in May 2026, he allegedly admitted that he had used the money to pay off personal loans and clear debts.After an inquiry, the company initiated legal proceedings. Police said the accused subsequently returned Rs 2.4 lakh to the company but failed to repay the remaining Rs 14.11 lakh despite repeated demands.The complaint, filed by the company’s HR executive, states that the alleged misappropriation involved collections from several restaurants, food outlets and retail establishments across Ahmedabad. Company officials have provided transaction details and identified area managers and customers as witnesses in the case.Based on the complaint, Bodakdev police registered a case of criminal breach of trust against the accused individual.
