For someone whose family has been closely connected to the Kansas City Chiefs and Travis Kelce for years, Dan Hunt might have expected a place at one of the biggest celebrity weddings of 2026. Instead, the Chiefs co-owner says he was not invited to Taylor Swift and Kelce’s ceremony. His lighthearted reaction has now added another unexpected chapter to the couple’s highly private wedding story.
Travis Kelce wedding snub leaves Chiefs co-owner Dan Hunt off guest list
Dan Hunt, a member of the Hunt family that owns the Kansas City Chiefs, recently addressed the wedding snub while speaking with CBS News Texas. Rather than expressing anger, he turned the situation into a joke, suggesting that his lack of musical talent may have cost him an invitation.“I did not get invited to Taylor Swift’s wedding; apparently, I don’t sing well enough to get invited,” Hunt told CBS News Texas. “That’s probably been my second biggest question of the entire summer.”The comment offers a glimpse into just how much curiosity still surrounds Swift and Kelce’s wedding. Their July 3 celebration at Madison Square Garden reportedly brought together a large group of relatives, friends, entertainers and NFL stars. Yet even with the enormous guest list, several familiar names did not make the final cut.Hunt also revealed that he has not spoken with Kelce since the ceremony. Still, there does not appear to be any serious tension between the Chiefs executive and the star tight end.“I have not,” Hunt said when asked whether he had spoken to Kelce since the wedding. “My brother was there, and I talked to him, and he said, look, it was really special, and it was really unique, and we are all so happy for him.”
Dan Hunt still wants Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift in Dallas
Despite missing the wedding, Hunt appears more interested in getting the newlyweds to Dallas than dwelling on the invitation.Hunt, who also serves as president of FC Dallas, discussed the possibility of welcoming Swift and Kelce to an MLS match. His comments suggested that the door remains wide open for the couple, even if his name was absent from their wedding guest list.“I’m working on it,” Hunt said. “You know, we’ll have to see. It’ll probably be after Travis retires, but they’re always welcome down here.”Swift’s connection to the Chiefs has already had a noticeable effect on the franchise. Her relationship with Kelce brought a huge new audience to NFL games, particularly among younger women and girls who may not have previously followed football closely. For Kelce, however, the wedding is now behind him. The veteran tight end has quickly shifted his attention back to football as he prepares for another NFL season. He has made it clear that he still believes he can perform at a high level and wants to prove that after a difficult previous campaign.“The wedding was the best night of my life and I appreciate everyone who came out and celebrated and had fun with us,” Kelce said during Chiefs training camp.“I still got a lot of love for this game. I still think I can go out and play at a high level,” Kelce added. “I want to go out there and prove to myself that I can play at a better level than last year.”For Hunt, missing the wedding seems to have become more of a funny story than a family feud. And if he gets his way, the next time Swift and Kelce are invited to a Hunt family event, he may finally be on the guest list too.
