The tournament will mark her first appearance at the Commonwealth Games and another milestone in a career that has already produced success at the junior and senior international levels.Sakshi comes from a farming family and is also serving in the Indian Army. She earned her place in the Indian team after overcoming a number of challenges during the selection process. She lost three kilograms in three weeks and defeated world champion boxers Nikhat Zareen and Minakshi Hooda to secure her spot in the Commonwealth Games squad.Earlier in 2025, Sakshi became the first Indian woman to win a gold medal at the World Boxing Cup in Astana. Before that, she built a strong record in age-group competitions by winning gold medals at the World Youth Championships in 2017 and 2018, and the World Junior Women’s Championships in 2015. She also won a medal at the 2021 Asian Boxing Championships.The Commonwealth Games will provide Sakshi with another opportunity to compete on a major international stage. Entering the competition after a successful run in recent years, she will aim to add a Commonwealth Games medal to her list of achievements and continue India’s strong tradition in women’s boxing.
