WWE presented the July edition of Saturday Night’s Main Event from Madison Square Garden in New York City. The vintage show was a captivating event, continuing the road to SummerSlam 2026, and featured some exciting in-ring matches. The show closed out with an appearance by the World Heavyweight Champion, Roman Reigns, and his invitee, Jalen Brunson, who took down Seth Rollins, who had brought an ally of his own.

Paige & Brie Bella vs. Lainey Reed & Fallon Henley

The opening match of the event saw Brie Bella and Paige defend the WWE Women’s Tag Team titles against Fatal Influence’s Fallon Henley and Lainey Reed. The back-and-forth tag team bout set the tone for the event and was a good match. In the closing moments, Paige utilized a roll-up on Reed, but Jacy Jayne pushed her over, and Reed got the tights to score the pinfall and win the tag team titles for her team.

Danhausen vs. JD McDonagh

This was a No Disqualification match. Dominik Mysterio interfered multiple times on behalf of his Judgment Day cohort, JD McDonagh. However, Danhausen brought backup of his own in the form of NBA star Karl Anthony Towns, who planted McDonagh and Mysterio with chokeslams, with Dirty Dom thrown on a table. Following that, Danhausen hit the reverse DDT on McDonagh to seal the victory.

Bayley vs. Lyra Valkyria

Lyra Valkyria debuted a new theme song to suit her new heel persona as she went one-on-one against her former friend Bayley. Early in the match, Valkyria’s nose was busted open, but she unleashed her fury on the Role Model. The bout concluded with Valkyria choking out Bayley and winning the match via submission.

Cody Rhodes & CM Punk vs. Gunther & Sami Zayn

The final match of the night was a tag team bout with high-stakes implications. If Gunther and Sami Zayn won, they would be added to CM Punk and Cody Rhodes’ match at SummerSlam. Knowing the stakes, they worked well as a team, while Rhodes and Punk united to stop them. In the final moments, Gunther had Rhodes down for the three-count until SmackDown GM Nick Aldis returned after Gunther’s attack on him and stopped the referee. Aldis hit Gunther with the WWE title belt, allowing Punk to hit the GTS and placing Rhodes on him for the three count.

What happened in the final segment of WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event (July 18, 2026)?

The show ended with Reigns holding the NBA MVP cup and Brunson holding Reigns’ World title.
