Mumbai: Two days after a minor schoolgirl suffered serious injuries after being hit by a motorcyclist riding in the wrong direction at Jogeshwari West on Wednesday, the Amboli Police are yet to nab the accused. A case of rash driving was registered by the police.Around 9.40 am on July 15, Reva Pawar, 8, was walking to her tuition classes with her mother, Nidhi. While they were crossing the road near the divider, opposite Cafe Arfa on SV Road, a motorcyclist riding in the wrong direction hit Reva. She lost grip of her mother’s hand and got dragged onto the street, hurting her head on the right side. She also suffered injuries to her hands, legs, and waist and started to bleed. As she lost consciousness, her mother raised an alarm.Meanwhile the motorcyclist that had hit her and his pillion fell some distance away. But they got back on the two-wheeler and fled without taking Reva to the hospital. “Two traffic policemen on duty nearby came to my wife and child’s rescue. They helped my daughter into an autorickshaw,” said Reva’s father, Vikas. Reva was rushed to a nearby hospital that administered first aid and adviced her parents to move her to a children’s hospital. Reva was then taken to Fatima Hospital at Oshiwara but they did not have an MRI machine available. Finally, she was taken to the Cooper Hospital at Vile Parle where she was admitted to the ICCU.Nidhi later told the police that the motorcyclist was between 25 and 30 years of age and dressed in a red shirt and blue trouser. He was not wearing a helmet. Police found CCTV grabs of the motorcyclist and have formed teams to look for him.Vikas, who works as a security guard, said Reva had regained consciousness on Thursday but spoke little, and could not hear with one ear. “She has abrasions all over her body, but her head has internal injuries. She is still in the ICCU and is in pain,” said Vikas. “Police have assured us they are tracking down the culprit,” he added.
