2 kids drown in Karnataka farm pond

Bengaluru: Two minors, including a girl, drowned in an agricultural pond in Doddaballapur Rural, police said.The tragedy took place when Daksha M, 11, and her neighbour, Dhanush P, 4, who were returning home with their cows Friday, waded into the pond. Noticing their long absence, their parents started searching for them late in the evening and found their bodies in the pond, police said.Police booked a criminal case of causing death due to negligence against the owner of the pond, Guru Murthy. “There was no proper fencing to the pond, which was filled with rainwater,” an investigating officer said.Following the incident, police recorded a video requesting the villagers not to wade into ponds and lakes.Sikkim woman murdered by boyfriendA 22-year-old woman from Sikkim, working in the city as a receptionist in a salon, was allegedly murdered at her Doddakannahalli residence in Bellandur Sunday. The victim is Ati Hangma Subba, and police said her boyfriend, Purba Lepcha, a hotel waiter, slit her throat after suspecting her fidelity. The accused has been arrested.Lepcha is from Darjeeling and came to Bengaluru with the woman a month back in search of work. The murder took place after the two had a heated argument early Sunday morning, and the accused used a kitchen knife to slit the woman’s throat, police said.
