March 2026 saw multiple launches, facelifts and line-up revisions across segments in the Indian automotive market. Key introductions included updated midsize SUVs such as the Skoda Kushaq and Renault Duster, while models like the Hyundai Exter and Verna received mid-cycle updates. Manufacturers also revised variant offerings, with changes made to the Kia Sonet and Tata Harrier EV line-ups. In the premium segment, Lexus entered India’s EV space with the ES 500e. Volkswagen Taigun faceliftThe first car on the list is the Volkswagen Taigun facelift, which will make its debut on April 9, 2026. The facelifted Taigun will get updated exterior styling with revised front and rear bumpers, fresh LED lighting graphics, and new interior features. As the Taigun and Kushaq are built on the same MQB-A0-IN platform and share much of their underlying structure, the Taigun facelift is likely to incorporate several of the updates recently introduced on the new Kushaq.As per the recently spied image, the facelifted Volkswagen Taigun appears to receive several design updates, particularly at the front. The SUV now features a sleeker grille flanked by new LED headlamps and LED DRLs, connected by a thin LED strip. An illuminated Volkswagen logo has also been added at the front, while the bumper has been revised for a cleaner look. The side profile remains largely unchanged from the current model. However, the facelift may introduce a new design for the alloy wheels. Elements such as conventional door handles, body-coloured ORVMs, blacked-out B-pillars, roof rails and a shark-fin antenna are expected to continue unchanged.

At the rear, the Taigun facelift gets updated taillamps, although the overall housing of the connected lighting setup appears similar to the current model. The test vehicle seen carries camouflage between the taillamps, possibly concealing a thicker full-width LED strip. It may also be hiding an illuminated red Volkswagen badge positioned between the tail-lamps. The rear bumper has also been revised with a simpler design. Chrome detailing has been reduced, while the silver skid plate now has a smoother finish. The bumper reflectors have been repositioned vertically, replacing the horizontal layout used on the current model.Moving to the cabin, the overall layout is expected to remain largely unchanged, with a few minor revisions and feature additions. These could include a panoramic sunroof, rear-seat massage function, a fully digital instrument cluster, and AI-based integration for the infotainment system. Other expected features include wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, a wireless charger, a six-speaker sound system with a subwoofer and amplifier, automatic climate control, leatherette seats, electrically adjustable front seats with ventilation, and more. Expected safety features include six airbags, ABS, EBD, traction control, cruise control, front and rear parking sensors, reverse camera, all-wheel disc brakes, rain sensing wiper, defogger, auto IRVM and more.As part of the update, just like Skoda, Volkswagen is expected to introduce a new 8-speed torque converter automatic transmission for the 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine, replacing the earlier 6-speed unit. The new gearbox is expected to improve fuel efficiency while also delivering smoother shifts and reducing fuel loss during acceleration and deceleration compared to the outgoing transmission. The 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder, turbo petrol produces 115 hp and 175 nm torque. Another engine is a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder, turbo petrol with 150 hp and 250 nm. Gearbox options expected include only a 7-speed DSG for the 1.5.Mercedes-Benz CLA electric The second car on the list is the new Mercedes-Benz CLA electric which will be launched on April 24, 2026. The booking amount is set at Rs 1.5 lakh; interested customers can book the EV online or by visiting their nearest dealership. The deliveries of the CLA 250+ Long Range will begin from the end of April, soon after the official launch. Deliveries of the CLA 200 Standard Range will start later, with the company scheduling them from June 2026.

Mercedes-Benz CLA electric

The new Mercedes-Benz CLA electric will be offered in two variants – 200 standard range and 250 plus long range. Customers who pre-book the car will receive a complimentary wall box home charger as part of the offer. The launch prices are expected to be about Rs. 55 lakh for the CLA 200 Standard Range and Rs. 59 lakh for the CLA 250+ Long Range (ex-showroom). However, the final pricing will depend on prevailing forex rates at the time of the official launch.The CLA 250+ supports DC fast charging of up to 320 kW, while the CLA 200 supports up to 200 kW. In 20 minutes, the CLA 250+ can add up to 400 km of range, while the CLA 200 can add up to 320 km. For AC charging, the car supports up to 22 kW through a wallbox charger, with 11 kW as standard. With the CHARGE network, users can access up to 9,000 charging points across India.Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella EV Another EV on the list is the new Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella EV, expected to be launched sometime in April 2026. Based on the Suzuki e-Vitara, the Ebella EV shares a majority of its core components with its Maruti counterpart. This reveal marks a key milestone for Toyota, marking its entry into India’s mass-market EV segment with a mid-size electric SUV that will take on competitors like the Hyundai Creta Electric, MG ZS EV and the upcoming Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara.

Urban Cruiser Ebella EV

The bookings for the EV are already underway; interested customers can book it online or by visiting their nearest dealership. The company is offering an 8-year battery warranty, 60 per cent buyback assurance and a battery-as-a-service (BaaS) programme.The Urban Cruiser Ebella is available in two battery pack options – 49kWh or a 61kWh battery pack. The 49kWh battery will come paired with a single motor placed on the front axle, which puts out 144hp. The bigger 61kWh battery also gets single-motor, but here it puts out 174hp. Both motors produce identical 189Nm of torque. Talking about range, the EV has a claimed range of 440 km with the 49 kWh battery pack, while the larger 61 kWh version is rated at 543 km on a single charge. The Urban Cruiser Ebella is variants – E1, E2 and E3.MG Majestor Next is the MG Majestor SUV, expected to be launched sometime in April 2026. Interested customers can pre-book the Majestor online or by visiting their nearest MG dealership by paying Rs 41,000. The company will announce prices and begin showroom previews and test drives from April 2026, with deliveries scheduled to start in May 2026. Once launched, the new Majestor will rival the Toyota Fortuner Legender and is expected to be priced from around Rs 45 lakh (ex-showroom). The SUV will be offered in three variants – Sharp 4×4, Savvy 4×2 and Savvy 4×4.

New MG Majestor

Talking about the engine first, it’s offered in a single 2.0-litre twin-turbo diesel with 215 hp of power, which comes paired with a ZF 8-speed automatic transmission. The SUV gets a 4×4 system with an all-terrain management software, which MG calls M-Hub, which offers up to 10 selectable terrain and drive modes. It also gets a crawl mode called the M-Crawl function, and three differential locks. It also has a maximum water-wading capacity of up to 810 mm for the SUV. The SUV offers up to 10 off-road modes, with automatic on-the-fly switching between 2H and 4H drive settings.The new Majestor is offered in both six and seven-seat layout options. The six-seater gets individual captain seats in the second row, while the seven-seater features a conventional bench. The dashboard gets a complete redesign with piano-black trim and silver accents that lend a modern feel. Features-wise, it gets a 12.3-inch touchscreen, infotainment, a 12.3-inch digital driver display, MG’s i-Smart 2.0 connected-car technology, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 12-speaker JBL sound system, electrically adjustable front seats that offer heating, cooling and multiple massage functions, three-zone automatic climate control with rear-row vents, dual wireless charging pads, a panoramic sunroof, paddle shifters, 64-colour ambient lighting, a gesture-operated powered tailgate and more.Kia Seltos (New variants) The 2026 Kia Seltos is expected to introduce two new top-spec variants. While this has not been officially confirmed, the updated model is likely to be launched in April 2026. The new variants are expected to be optional versions of the GTX and X-Line trims. Reports indicate they could include features such as a head-up display linked to seat memory and a dashboard camera.The head-up display was shown at the global unveiling but is not available in the current range, while the dashboard camera is likely to be offered at the dealer level. These variants are expected to be priced above the GTX and X-Line trims but below ADAS-equipped models. There is no confirmation yet on the availability of GTX (O) (A) and X-Line (O) (A) variants. If introduced, these would become the top trims in the lineup.
