Bijnor: A 50-year-old farmer was found shot dead on the seat of his tractor, around 2.5 km from his village under Chandpur police station area in Bijnor district late Wednesday night. Locals said there were bullet wounds. Police and his family members, however, remained clueless about the motive and the culprits.Vijaypal Singh, a resident of Kelanpur in Chandpur, had left home on his tractor around 4pm to plough his fields. He owned nearly 45 bighas of agricultural land and lived with his mother and wife, Geeta.When he failed to return by 7pm, his wife tried to call him on his cellphone, but he did not respond. Worried, she alerted relatives, and family members began looking for him. Their search ended around 11pm when they found Vijaypal’s blood-soaked body on the tractor seat. As per preliminary probe, two bullets claimed his life, police said.Bijnor SP Krishna Kumar Bishnoi said, “The farmer’s body was sent to the district hospital for postmortem. Further investigation is underway.”
