Patna: A 20-year-old youth was found hanging from a tree near Balaji Temple in Timuhani area under Bikram police station of Patna district on Sunday morning, police said.According to police, the deceased was identified as Ritu Kumar, son of Mukesh Kumar, a resident of Mahagupur village under Janipur police station. Family members said he worked as a daily wage worker with a mason. Locals spotted the body around 7 am and informed the police, following which a team rushed to the spot and launched an investigation.Pankaj Kumar Sharma, SDPO-II, Paliganj, said police received information from villagers that a youth’s body was hanging from a tree with a gamcha in a field near Gorkhari village. “His family has been informed about the incident. Prima facie, it appears to be a case of suicide. The body has been sent for post-mortem, and further action is being taken after collection of evidence,” Sharma said.Police officers, including Bikram police station additional SHO Varun Kumar and another officer Surendra Kumar, visited the spot and carried out inquiries.According to family members, Ritu had spoken to a friend on the phone shortly before the incident and had told his family that he was in the Bikram area. His body was later found hanging from a tree.Police said family members and friends were being questioned to ascertain the circumstances leading to the death. “All possible angles are being examined. The exact cause of death will be established after the post-mortem,” the SDPO added.
