Jaipur: Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma Friday urged youngsters to stay away from drugs and use their talent and creativity to contribute to the development of Rajasthan and the nation at the ‘Sapno Ki Udaan-Sashakt Yuva Samvad’ programme at Bhawani Niketan.

Addressing a large number of youngsters in person and through digital platforms, Sharma said the state govt was working to provide opportunities in education, sports, skills and employment. He said more than 1.93 lakh youngsters had been given appointments in nearly three years, while recruitment for 1.18 lakh posts was under process.

The programme focused heavily on drug de-addiction, with the CM administering a pledge to participants. A street play carrying the message, “Addiction is a curse, life is invaluable”, highlighted the impact of addiction on individuals, families and society.

Sharma said the Centre had set a target of a drug-free India by 2029 and Rajasthan would work towards the goal through the newly launched ‘Nayi Kiran’ programme. The CM also launched the Nasha Mukt Rajasthan quiz, Nayi Kiran drug de-addiction centre portal, Pratibha Portal, Khel Mitra Portal and Khelo Rajasthan Games Portal.Sports and Youth Affairs minister Rajyavardhan Rathore drew parallels between Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri, saying their lives demonstrated the importance of self-control, discipline and determination. He said sports could help youngsters develop these qualities.The event also saw appointment letters being handed to 4,091 newly recruited personnel and the launch of smart domicile certificate services.Sharma also laid the foundation stones for and inaugurated 668 development works worth Rs 3,075 crore across Bikaner, Hanumangarh, Sriganganagar, Baran, Bundi, Jhalawar and Kota.He also honoured medal-winning athletes Anantjeet Singh Naruka with Rs 60 lakh and Kushagra Singh Rajawat with Rs 1 crore for bringing laurels to the state in international sporting competitions.
