National award-winning actress Vidya Balan is all set to play the lead in a Tamil film. The actress, who had previously made a cameo in Ajith Kumar’s Nerkonda Paarvai and is part of Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2 (in which she, reportedly, plays Kantha, one of the antagonists), has officially kickstarted shooting for the debut Tamil film of acclaimed filmmaker R Balki.The untitled film marks the first major collaboration of the duo after 11 years. They had previously worked together on the National Award-winning Paa (2009) and Shamitabh (2015), in which Vidya made a cameo.Vidya confirmed her presence in the project by posting a behind-the-scenes update on her Instagram Stories. Sharing a picture of her holding the film’s script from the set, she wrote, “New Beginnings #NewTamilFilm with #RBalki (sic).”Maestro Ilaiyaraaja, who Balki frequently collaborates with, is composing the music for this project.
