Trichy: Miscreants broke into a locked residence in Valluvar Nagar, Trichy district on Friday and stole 6.25 sovereigns of gold jewellery. Police registered a case on Saturday in connection with the incident.The complainant, 31-year-old M Sirajudeen, lives in Valluvar Nagar on Madurai Road and is employed at a fuel station near the Old Central bus stand.According to police, on September 4, Sirajudeen left for work while his wife visited a relative’s house. In their absence, unidentified people entered the house.Sirajudeen’s parents, who occupy a separate section of the same house, discovered the house break and alerted their son.Sirajudeen found that the miscreants unlocked a cupboard with a key and stole 6.25 sovereigns of gold jewellery. The jewellery is said to be worth lakhs of rupees.Fort crime police registered a case on Saturday under Section 305 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Investigation is under way.
