Actor Mir Salman who come a long way. Hailing from Kashmir, he came to the dream city Mumbai with a wish and made it work on his own terms.Today, he is known for his work in films like We Are Faheem & Karun, Amaran and Baramulla. On the OTT side, people have seen him in shows like Tanaav, Shoorveer and Avrodh.He is not just an actor though. He sings, he makes films too.In a candid conversation with us, Mir spoke about his journey, the initial days in Mumbai, what his family thought when he decided to pack his bags and move, and the struggles that came along the way.Speaking about his journey, Salman said, “I wouldn’t call it a struggle. I’m actually grateful for the process because I’ve learnt so much along the way. So I’d rather call it a learning process. If there’s one thing that bothers me, it’s the free time. I have a difficult time sitting at home and doing nothing when I’m not working on an acting project. But I’ve slowly learnt to use that time differently.”He further shared how he channelised his idle time into creative pursuits. “I’ve discovered another form of expression in myself through music. I write and compose songs for myself, and I’m working towards releasing my first original song. I’ve also an interest in filmmaking, which I hope to explore at some point. So maybe what I once saw as waiting time, I’m slowly learning to see as preparation time,” he added.Recalling his family’s reaction when he decided to move to Mumbai to pursue acting, Mir Salman said, “There were mixed reactions, but eventually everyone supported me. Although the question for a long time was always, ‘What are you doing? Apply for some government job.’ I understand that came from concern and love, but that question never really worked for me.”“I think that’s probably the story of many families until something starts working. Once some of my projects happened, slowly they started believing. Or maybe they just got tired of asking me! Hahaha. Now the question has changed to, ‘What role are you playing next, and when?’ And honestly, I prefer this question much more,” he concluded.
