Ranchi: Police on Wednesday raided a premises in Doranda here following information about suspected illegal slaughter activity and recovered around 80 heads of cattle.Hatia DSP Neeraj Kumar said a team carried out the raid on the basis of a tip-off. “We recovered 75 adult bovines and some calves from the spot,” he said.Police said the premises was allegedly being used in the morning hours. No meat was recovered during the raid, though officials said some related articles were seized from the spot.No arrest had been made in the case till the time of filing this report. Police said further investigation is under way to identify those involved in running the premises and to verify the source and ownership of the recovered animals.In a separate incident on Sunday, police arrested nine persons after a pickup van carrying cattle was set on fire near Piska More. Officials said the arrests included the vehicle owner. The case is being investigated separately.
