7 injured by speeding car in Hazaribag

Hazaribag: Seven people, including two children, were injured late on Sunday when a speeding car, allegedly driven by an intoxicated man, rammed three motorcycles on Bus Stand Road before hitting a family outside a city hospital.Eyewitnesses said the car first hit three motorcycles and injured the riders. Instead of slowing down, the car accelerated as its occupants attempted to flee the scene. It was during this time the car struck Ravindra Kumar Pati, 34, his wife Anita Devi, 30, and their two children, aged around 6 and 8 outside the main gate of Mission Hospital before coming to a halt after crashing into a roadside hand pump. While Anita is out of danger, Ravindra and the couple’s two kids were in a critical condition. Other injured were discharged after treatment at Sheikh Bhikhari Medical College and Hospital.The incident took place around 11:30 am.The driver of the car, identified as Shashi Kumar, was arrested and is currently undergoing treatment at a hospital. Police are verifying eyewitness claims that a few occupants of the car fled the scene soon after the crash.Mukesh Kumar Rajak, the officer-in-charge of Bada Bazaar police station, said the injured were admitted to hospitals with the help of locals. “The accident-hit vehicle has been seized, and a detailed investigation is underway. Strict legal action will be taken against those found responsible,” Rajak said.
