4 killed, several injured in Volvo bus-trailer collision on Yamuna Expressway

AGRA: At least four people were killed and several injured after a Volvo bus carrying around 65 passengers collided with a trailer on the Yamuna Expressway in Uttar Pradesh’s Mathura district in the early hours of Tuesday.The accident occurred near milestone 112 under the jurisdiction of the Raya police station. According to police, the bus crashed into the rear of a trailer that was travelling in the third lane of the expressway.Mathura SP (Rural) Suresh Chandra Rawat said police received information about the accident at around 3:35 am. He said the collision is suspected to have been caused by the bus travelling at high speed. “A road accident occurred on the Yamuna Expressway in Mathura district. A trailer was moving in the third lane. A Volvo bus carrying approximately 65 passengers collided from behind with a trailer due to speeding. The police received information at 3:35am, ” SP (Rural) Suresh Chandra Rawat said.“A green corridor was established from the accident site to the hospital. The injured were immediately rushed to the hospital; four people have died, and 19 others are undergoing treatment. The entire administrative team is present at the scene, ” Chandra Rawat added.Police and other emergency response teams rushed to the spot and launched rescue operations. The identities of the deceased are yet to be officially disclosed.(With agency inputs)
