JAISALMER: A 35-year-old man was allegedly killed after a jeep rammed into his motorcycle following a minor dispute over his cow entering a farm in Prabhupura Medwa village under Bhaniana police station limits of Jaisalmer district on Thursday.The deceased has been identified as Jetharam Meghwal (35), son of Chetanaram, a resident of Prabhupura in Barath Ka Gaon panchayat.According to police, Jetharam’s cow had entered the agricultural field of another villager, also named Jetharam Meghwal, son of Hardanram, on Tuesday.This led to an argument and dispute between the two sides.Family members and local residents had attempted to broker a compromise between the two sides on Wednesday evening, but no agreement could be reached and tensions continued.On Thursday, Jetharam was allegedly riding his motorcycle when some people deliberately rammed him with a jeep. He sustained serious injuries in the collision and was initially taken to a local hospital. Due to the critical nature of his condition, he was referred to Jodhpur for further treatment, where he succumbed to his injuries during treatment.The incident triggered panic in the village. As soon as information about the incident was received, a police team led by Bhaniana Station House Officer Mahadev Godara reached the spot and began collecting evidence.Considering the seriousness of the case, Pokaran Deputy Superintendent of Police Budharam Bishnoi and SI Mahadev Godara also reached the scene. Police called in Mobile Forensic (MOB) and Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) teams, which collected crucial evidence from the site.The deceased’s family has lodged a named FIR against around half a dozen persons, alleging their involvement in the attack and death. Police have formed a team to trace and apprehend the accused.The exact circumstances surrounding the alleged intentional ramming and the sequence of events leading to Jetharam’s death are being investigated. Police said further action will be taken on the basis of the evidence collected during the investigation.
