Lucknow: In a gesture symbolising affection, trust and social harmony, 20 girls from Adarsh Madhyamik Vidyalaya in the Jan Bhawan campus celebrated Raksha Bandhan with director general of police Rajeev Krishna and other senior officers at the state police headquarters on Thursday.The students took part in a special programme and tied rakhi to the DGP and senior police officials. A key highlight of the event was that the rakhis were handmade by the girls, giving the celebration a personal and thoughtful touch.Greeting the students, Krishna said observing the festival with them was a special, emotional and pleasant experience. He said the girls’ visit to the police headquarters was a matter of happiness and privilege for the police family.The DGP also thanked Governor Anandiben Patel for facilitating the initiative, saying it gave police personnel an opportunity to celebrate Raksha Bandhan in an atmosphere of warmth and affection.Encouraging the girls, Krishna said every student has dreams and aspirations, with some aiming to join the police while others wish to pursue sports, education and other careers. He urged them to work with confidence, dedication and perseverance.Senior officers from cybercrime, railway, EOW and fire services, along with officials handling administration, human rights, law and order and anti-corruption, attended and interacted with the students. The programme aimed to strengthen trust and a sense of belonging between police and society.
