Shimla: A 19-year-old third-year student at the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Sirmaur allegedly hanged himself in his hostel room in Paonta Sahib on Friday.Sirmaur superintendent of police (SP) NS Negi stated that no suicide note was recovered from the premises, leaving the cause of death yet to be determined.The incident came to light after the deceased student, hailing from Madhya Pradesh, failed to answer multiple phone calls from his father throughout the day.Concerned by the unreturned calls, the father contacted the hostel warden, who proceeded to check the room. Upon finding the door locked from the inside, the warden broke a window pane and discovered the student lying on the floor after the cloth noose gave way.The student was immediately rushed to the nearby civil hospital, where attending doctors declared him brought dead.Following a postmortem examination on Saturday, police handed over the body to the deceased’s father and relatives, who performed his final rites in Paonta Sahib.
