Tenkasi: A 19-year-old college student from Kerala drowned while bathing in a pond near Sundarapandiyapuram in Tenkasi district.The deceased was identified as Aaron, from Kollam district in Kerala. He was pursuing studies to become a priest and was staying in Keela Pattakurichi.According to police, Aaron had gone to bathe in the pond at Keela Pattakurichi along with fellow students on Sunday. He ventured into a deeper section of the pond and drowned, as he reportedly didn’t know how to swim.Alerted by his friends, personnel from the Tenkasi fire and rescue services department rushed to the spot and launched a search operation. After nearly an hour of intensive efforts, rescuers recovered Aaron’s body from the pond.The body was later sent to Tenkasi government hospital for postmortem examination.Sambavar Vadakarai police have registered a case. Further investigation is under way.
