CM says govt firmly with farmers, asks officials to assess crop damage due to unseasonal rain
Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath chairs a high-level review meeting on crop damage caused by untimely rain, hailstorms and fire incidents in parts of the state, in Lucknow on Wednesday

Lucknow: Taking note of the unseasonal rain in several districts over the past few days, which led to damage to the rabi crop and some instances of fire, chief minister Yogi Adityanath held a meeting on Wednesday, where he directed officials to carry out an immediate crop assessment.“It is natural for farmers to feel worried in such adverse circumstances, and the state govt stands firmly with them. All districts affected by rain should carry out an accurate, fair and time-bound assessment of losses for every affected farmer and sharecropper so that immediate compensation can be ensured,” he said.Asking departments to ensure proper coordination to carry out the damage survey, the CM said that work should be completed at the earliest and reports sent to the govt. He also directed officials to work with insurance companies to ensure quick settlement of crop insurance claims.The CM directed the revenue department to make adequate funds available to each district from the State Disaster Relief Fund. District magistrates have been asked to ensure that assistance is provided to affected farmers immediately and relief camps are set up wherever required.While reviewing losses due to fire, the CM said that in all such cases where there was loss of life or livestock, relief funds should be provided to affected people within 24 hours.“Eligible beneficiaries should be promptly covered under the Krishak Durghatna Beema Yojana. Additionally, families whose houses have been damaged or destroyed should be provided housing on priority under the Mukhyamantri Awas Yojana. Any negligence in relief and rehabilitation work will be unacceptable, and accountability of officials concerned will be fixed,” the CM said.He added that the state govt stands firmly with every farmer and sharecropper during the crisis, and providing all possible assistance to them is the govt’s priority.
