Shivendra Singh Dungarpur invited as International Competition jury member at Berlinale
The Berlinale Film Festival has invited Shivendra Singh Dungarpur to serve as a member of the International Jury at its 76th edition.

The Berlinale Film Festival has invited director, producer and archivist Shivendra Singh Dungarpur to serve as a member of the International Jury at its 76th edition.Very few Indians have been invited to serve on the Berlinale juryThe International Jury, headed by Wim Wenders, will decide who takes home the Golden Bear and Silver Bears at the Berlinale.Shivendra Singh Dungarpur says, “To be a jury member at the Berlinale is a rare honour, as very few Indians have been invited to serve on the festival’s jury. Berlin is one of the most prestigious film festivals in the world. It is the festival where Satyajit Ray was a regular. They wrote to me saying they were impressed by the kind of work Film Heritage Foundation is doing and the films we screen, and wanted to understand how it happens. Festival director Tricia Tuttle spoke about the films that the Film Heritage Foundation brings to India and the audience turnout. She also mentioned in Berlin that there is hope for cinema, as younger audiences are coming out to watch these classics.”He adds,”As an archivist, it is a rare honour to be part of the jury. I am really looking forward to watching some of the best films right at the beginning of the year, and to working alongside Wim Wenders, a filmmaker of that stature, as part of the jury.”This year, 22 films are competing for awards in the Competition section.The other members of the International Jury are director and producer Min Bahadur Bham (Nepal), actor Bae Doona(South Korea), director, screenwriter, and producer Reinaldo Marcus Green (USA), director, screenwriter, and producer HIKARI (Japan), and producer Ewa Puszczyńska (Poland).Shivendra Singh Dungarpur will also be presenting the world premiere of Film Heritage Foundation’s restoration of “In Which Annie Gives It Those Ones” (1989) at the Berlinale Classics along with the director Pradip Krishen and the Booker Prize-winning author Arundhati Roy, who wrote and acted in the film.
