Patna: A railway employee was shot dead in Samastipur district late Thursday night and his body was found on the roadside on Friday morning under Tajpur police station area.The victim, identified as Pramod Kumar of Gunai Basti village, had finished duty at Samastipur railway station and was returning home on his bike when he was attacked near a petrol pump at Harpur Basahi Bhindi village.Police found bullet wounds on his stomach and back. The body and the bike were recovered on Friday. Locals blocked the road to protest the killing.“My brother is a loco pilot at Samastipur railway station. He finished duty around 11.40pm and was on his way home when unindentified persons shot him. We got information about the incident around 5.30am,” said Manoj, the deceased’s brother.Police suspect robbery as a possible motive, indicating that the victim may have been attacked after resisting loot bid. However, family members have alleged a land dispute behind the murder.Samastipur ASP Sanjay Kumar Pandey said: “The family has pointed to the involvement of relatives and alleged a land dispute. The matter is under investigation.”The deceased had been married for five years and is survived by his wife and three young children.
