‘Anarkali’ actor Kabir Bedi is returning to Malayalam cinema once again. Now he is acting in a new Malayalam film titled ‘Koragajja’ which is directed by Sudheer Attavar.The news was shared during a press meet held in Kochi which was attended by director Sudheer Attavar and Kannada actress Bhavya along with producer Trivikram Safalya and the executive producer. The team also confirmed that Koragajja will hit theatres in February. The makers also pointed out that the story of ‘Koragajja’ has similarities with the story of Muthappan in Kerala and this connection makes the film more relatable to Malayalam audiences.
Love for Kerala and Malayalam films
Kabir Bedi shared during the press meet that he likes Kerala very much and also enjoys Kerala food. The Bollywood actor said that nearly 25 percent of National Awards go to Malayalam films.Kabir Bedi plays the role of Udyavara Arasu Raja who is a royal character with strong roots in the story.Kabir Bedi had spoken about Anarkali and his love for Malayalam cinema earlier. He had told Deccan Chronicle, “I haven’t seen many Malayalam films, but Chemmeen was a movie that influenced me a lot. Later, I saw Adoor Gopalakrishnan, Aravindan and Shaji films and was impressed. So when Rajeev Nair, the producer of Anarkali, approached me for the character, I readily agreed.”
A story rooted in history and faith
‘Koragajja’ tells the story of the deity Koragajja which is one of the main deities worshipped in the Daivaradhana tradition of the Karavali region in Karnataka also known as Tulu Nadu. The story has strong emotional and spiritual elements. It is said that the story shown in the film happened around 800 years ago.‘Koragajja’ is made on a large scale and will be released in six languages including Kannada, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Tulu.Music and background score are composed by Gopi Sundar and the film includes 31 songs.
Strong cast and skilled technical team
The audio rights of Koragajja are owned by C Music and the epic film is produced by Trivikram Safalya under the banner of Trivikram Cinemas. Vidhyadhar Shetty from Success Films is also part of the project.Cinematography is by Manoj Pillai and the editing is handled by Jith Josh and Vidhyadhar Shetty. Sound design is by Bibin Dev with VFX done by Leven Kushan. Colour grading is by Liju Prabhakar. Manju Gopinath is the PROShruti Krishna plays the role of Bhairaki along with the Kannada actress Bhavya who plays an important role. The cast also includes Sandeep Soparkar, Naveen D Patel and well-known choreographer Ganesh Acharya.The expectations are high for the film.
