Cupra Kiro co-owner Idris Elba backs Dan Ticktum after strong showing in Madrid: “He’s going to get there”

Cupra Kiro co-owner Idris Elba was present at the Circuito del Jarama when both team drivers, Dan Ticktum and Pepe Marti, scored points in the Madrid E-Prix final held last week. The Hollywood veteran was delighted with the result, particularly Marti, who was racing in his home country and finished ninth. He also expressed confidence that, with performances like Ticktum’s, who finished fourth, a victory may not be far away this season.

Elba spoke about Cupra Kiro’s performance at the Madrid E-Prix, describing it as an important achievement for the team to secure double points in Spain.When asked if he was on the edge of his seat while watching Ticktum and Marti finish fourth and ninth respectively, the actor said, “Right to the end, like that last corner, literally that last corner.”He added, “It was a really exciting race and we’re really proud of the boys. They both did really well, Pepe especially. But, you know, double points is really important for us right now, so it’s good.”Speaking about Marti, he said: “Yeah, no, it was great. I mean, he took Attack Mode early and held that position. It was great for the fans, great for him. So it was a good moment.”When asked whether he could see a win coming for Ticktum after his fourth-place finish, Elba responded, “100 per cent. I mean, Dan’s got it in him and he’ll get there, he’s going to get there. I thought today was going to be it.”

Dan Ticktum’s performance this season

Dan Ticktum has been performing strongly this season, although he is yet to reach the podium. He once again topped a free practice session in Madrid and narrowly missed out on a podium finish after a close battle with Mitch Evans and Pascal Wehrlein, who finished second and third respectively, while Antonio Felix da Costa won the race.Ticktum is currently 10th in the Formula E Drivers’ Standings with 22 points, while Marti sits 12th with 19 points.
