Panaji: St Andre MLA Viresh Borkar says that just as chief minister Pramod Sawant got the land conversion approvals revoked for an 80,000 sqm plot in his constituency, other permissions issued under Section 39A of the TCP Act should also be revoked. Borkar urged all the MLAs to write to govt and the chief minister, asking for the approvals to be revoked.“With the CM stopping the land conversion in his own constituency, the same way, across Goa, a lot of valleys, orchard land, paddy fields, no-development slopes have been converted under Section 39A,” said Borkar. The Revolutionary Goans MLA went on to allege that town and country planning minister Vishwajit Rane failed to consult Sawant while issuing permissions for change of zone under Section 39A in Sanquelim.“It seems clear that the minister is not taking the chief minister into confidence and the TCP board is doing whatever it wants,” said Borkar. He said that all the legislators should force govt to scrap Section 39A. “People should put pressure on their legislators,” said Borkar.
