A one-and-a-half-year-old girl in Bengaluru fell from the first floor of her building after climbing onto a chair near a metal grill.

BENGALURU: A heart-wrenching incident in Nayandahalli in West Bengaluru has left a family shaken after a one-and-a-half-year-old girl fell from the first floor of a residential building while playing.The incident occurred around 6.30 pm on April 6. The toddler was playing inside the house when she wandered through the main door into the passage. She reportedly climbed onto a chair placed near a metal grill, lost her balance, and fell onto the road below.A passerby who witnessed the fall immediately alerted the parents and rushed to help the child. She was taken to a private hospital in Basavanagudi, where she is undergoing treatment in the ICU and is responding positively.According to police, the mother had kept milk on the stove when the incident occurred. The child is the couple’s only daughter.The toddler’s father told police that his daughter had climbed onto a chair and held onto the grill before slipping. Doctors have stated that she is now out of danger. Apart from a head injury, she is safe. “We don’t blame anyone for the incident,” he said.The horrifying moment was captured on CCTV, showing the child peering through the grill before suddenly falling. The impact caused a severe head injury and immediate bleeding.Alerted by neighbours, the mother rushed downstairs in panic and collapsed on seeing her injured child. Neighbours quickly helped shift both mother and child to the hospital.The incident has raised concerns over safety measures in residential buildings, especially for young children, highlighting how a brief lapse can lead to a life-altering tragedy.Police from Chandra Layout Police Station said no complaint has been filed in connection with the incident.
