Chawinda Devi: Punjab CM Bhagwant Singh Mann on Wednesday accused the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) of seeking a tie-up with the BJP to return to power and “loot Punjab” again, while attacking the previous SAD-BJP govt over drugs and the sacrilege issue.Addressing a Lok Milni gathering, Mann said people of Punjab had not forgotten the role of the SAD-BJP combine in the drug crisis and would not forgive the parties for what he called the destruction of Punjab. He alleged the Akali leadership had committed sacrilege, destroyed evidence related to its perpetrators and ordered firing on innocent people, and was now “begging to join hands with the BJP”.“Punjabis will send the Akalis and BJP into political oblivion due to their sins against the state and its people,” Mann said.He claimed people of Majitha were ready to “write a new political chapter” and highlighted his govt’s record of providing 70,000 govt jobs on merit, with “no cash, no farmaish”, besides improving govt schools where students were now qualifying for JEE and NEET.In a post on X, Mann said the gathering at Chawinda Devi showed that Majitha was ready for change, contrasting his govt’s schools, hospitals, jobs and development with what he described as the earlier politics of “cases, hooliganism and fear”.
