Dolly Parton, the American music icon whose songs and public work made her a household name across generations, has died at the age of 80. Tributes have started pouring in from around the world, including from Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, Apple CEO Tim Cook and Google CEO Sundar Pichai, who remembered Parton for her music, generosity and lasting impact. Parton’s death was announced by her family, with reports saying she died in Nashville after a brief battle with cancer.“Dolly Parton’s music helped light up the world. She was a brilliant songwriter, cultural icon, and dedicated philanthropist who helped instill a love of reading and learning in millions of children around the world. May she rest in peace,” wrote Cook in an online post.

Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, who knew Parton personally, shared a message on X (formerly Twitter) remembering the singer’s impact beyond music. Bezos shared an X post where he said:“Dolly spent her whole life showing us what it means to lead with love. Lauren and I are so grateful to have known her. She lifted everyone with her music, her generosity, and her joy. Sending our sincere condolences to her family and everyone she touched”.
