Rukmini Vasanth has been keeping her Toxic promotional wardrobe interesting, and her latest Chennai outing certainly had a colour that was hard to ignore. For the film’s Chennai promotions, the actor stepped out in a bright orange strapless maxi from Dash & Dot, choosing a look that was simple in almost every other way. She paired the dress with metallic gold sandals and kept her jewellery to a minimum, wearing just a delicate bracelet. And honestly, the colour works. The warm orange shade has that lovely, almost summer-at-sunset quality to it. Against Rukmini’s understated styling, it gets all the attention without needing much else. The floor-length silhouette also keeps the outfit looking polished rather than overly dressed up.But there’s one part of the dress that doesn’t quite work for us – the strapless neckline has a structured, almost sculpted finish, with the detailing around the bust making the top half look a little too constructed. It takes away from what could have been a beautifully clean, effortless maxi. The rest of the dress has an easy flow to it, so the bust design feels slightly out of place. And that would’ve been an easy fix. A cleaner strapless neckline or a softer, more fluid bodice would have let the colour and silhouette do all the talking.Rukmini otherwise kept things refreshingly simple. There was no heavy necklace competing with the neckline and no pile-on of accessories. The gold sandals added just enough shine, while the tiny bracelet kept the finishing touches subtle. This isn’t Rukmini’s first fashion moment during the Toxic promotions. She’s already moved through very different moods, from a soft yellow gown to more pared-back looks, showing that she isn’t afraid to experiment. Her earlier strapless lace appearance at the Bengaluru trailer launch, for instance, was styled with minimal jewellery and soft, dewy makeup. And perhaps that’s what makes this Chennai look interesting. The idea is good, the colour is gorgeous, and the styling is restrained. It’s just that one bust detail that keeps the dress from being a complete fashion win.Toxic, starring Yash, Rukmini Vasanth, Kiara Advani, Nayanthara, Huma Qureshi and Tara Sutaria, is scheduled to release on August 26, 2026.
