Chandigarh: Of 36,792 houses sanctioned under the Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G) since 2024-25, 17,000 have been completed with Rs 478.45 crore in financial assistance, Punjab rural development and panchayats minister Tarunpreet Singh Sond said on Sunday. Construction of the remaining 19,792 houses is progressing rapidly, he said.“In addition to the regular housing assistance, a special package of Rs 360 crore has also been sanctioned for families affected by floods in Punjab. Under this, 30,000 damaged houses are targeted for reconstruction and repairs,” Sond said, adding that “So far, 28,020 houses have been sanctioned, while assistance towards the first and second instalments has been transferred to the bank accounts of eligible beneficiaries, thereby expediting the reconstruction process.”
