Addressing the ongoing reports in a chat with Cinema Vikatan, PS Mithran confirmed that talks about the film are indeed taking place. However, he stopped short of officially announcing the project or confirming its cast. Speaking to Cinema Vikatan, the director said, “There are discussions happening about the film. I hope something positive comes out of it.” When asked for more details about the much-anticipated collaboration, Mithran kept his response brief and added, “Good things will happen.“

If the project eventually takes shape, it could bring together Dhanush and Kareena Kapoor for an interesting cross-industry collaboration. The film features Rajisha Vijayan, SJ Suryah, Malavika Mohanan, Ashika Ranganath and Yogi Babu in key roles. The recently released teaser has promised a larger scale, intense action and a strong conflict between Karthi and SJ Suryah’s characters. The sequel has music by Sam CS and cinematography by George C Williams. Sardar 2 is scheduled to hit theatres on September 10, making it Mithran’s next major release before his reported Hindi project takes shape.
