Karan Johar has reacted to the ongoing social media fan war between Munawar Faruqui and Abhishek Malhan’s fans amid the controversy surrounding The Traitors Season 2. The filmmaker and host urged fans to stop abusing each other and keep their disagreements civil.Speaking about the ongoing fan war, Karan said, “Someone says their favourite is Abhishek Malhan. My entire timeline is all about Abhishek Malhan’s fans fighting with Munawar’s fans. I mean, like, while I completely appreciate everyone’s immense love for their favourites, it would be nice if you all didn’t get down to kind of abusing each other.”He added that the contestants cannot be blamed for the outcome of the game, especially when someone is voted out during the Circle of Shaq. “Look, everyone’s done their best. No one is responsible for what happens, especially when they’re voted out in the Circle of Shaq. It is something that you cannot help. You don’t expect him. Munawar is hugely popular and he has a huge fan base, and I’m sure no one wanted him to get out,” Karan said.Karan also acknowledged the popularity of both contestants and said that the entire cast had been rooting for all 21 players. “I know all of us were rooting for everyone, all 21 players, and we were sad to let anyone go. But it is the play, it is the gameplay, and you cannot stop that,” he said.Karan Johar asks fans to keep things civilTalking specifically about Abhishek’s fan base, Karan said he appreciates how supportive and protective they are of the reality star. However, he requested fans not to turn their support into online hostility.“As far as Abhishek’s fans are, they are so amazing. They’re so supportive and possessive of him. I love that. Everyone is actually fighting for their loved ones, and I think that I love. But why do we have to make it messy and nasty?” he said.Karan concluded, “I mean, let’s, can we keep it like a little more civil, perhaps? That’s all I can request.”The comments come amid the apparent fallout between Munawar and Abhishek after the early episodes of The Traitors Season 2. The two have unfollowed each other on social media and have since appeared to take subtle digs at one another.Without directly naming Abhishek, Munawar recently took a jibe while reacting to the events of the show. He said, “Agle (show) mein aur paisa daalna padega positive karane ke liye, itna thoo thoo ho raha hai bhai.”Munawar also pointed out that despite his absence from the third episode, his name continued to come up among the contestants. Soon after, a post from Abhishek’s social media account read, “Kaun rora h bhai?”Munawar appeared to respond to the post without taking any names. He said, “To doston main na bhot roya, itna roya roya… mereko ek khayal aaya rote waqt ki agar agle ko jeetne ka hai matlab agar isko chahiye trophy jeetna hai to next year Alliance mein jaye kyunki udhar na group mein khelna hota hai. Shayad jeet jaye udhar.”
