Edu dept sends notice to school where 17-yr-old died, report finds ‘gross negligence’

Jaipur: State education department’s report on the death of a 17-year-old boy at a private school in the city found “insensitivity and gross negligence” on the school’s part. The department, in its notice, has asked the school to submit “status report along with the reasons” by 11:30am Saturday.“When the student’s health deteriorated after eating patties, the school administration did not immediately take the student to the hospital and did not provide medical facilities. The school administration informed the student’s parents and took him to the hospital after about 50 minutes, which is indicative of insensitivity and gross negligence towards the student,” states the notice.On Friday the dept formed a three-member committee to probe the student’s death who fell ill after eating food from his school canteen two days ago. The committee includes chief block education officer Devendra Kumar Sharma, and two govt school principals from Jhotwara.On Friday morning, the 17-year-old deceased boy‘s family staged a sit-in protest outside the school.
