Prithviraj Sukumaran’s upcoming movie ‘Khalifa’ has crossed a key milestone ahead of its theatrical release. The Vysakh directorial has received a UA 16+ certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).The certification clears the way for the movie to arrive in cinemas as scheduled. ‘Khalifa’ is set to release on August 20, making it one of the major Malayalam movies targeting the 2026 Onam season.

Earlier the makers had shared the teaser for the film which received good responses.

Prithviraj Sukumaran plays Aamir Ali, the central character in ‘Khalifa: Part 1’. His character is connected to a powerful gold-trading business with operations across several regions.The cast includes Malvika Sharma in the female lead. Neil Nitin Mukesh is also part of the movie in a pivotal role. The ensemble further features Indrans, Shivajith, Shine Varghese, Shammi Thilakan, Kyraa, Mohini and Master Nafash. Mohanlal is another major name associated with the project. He appears as Mambarakkal Ahammadali, Aamir Ali’s grandfather.

The movie stars Nivin Pauly, Mamitha Baiju and Sangeeth Prathap and is scheduled for August 21. Dulquer Salmaan’s ‘I’m Game’ was initially expected to join the Onam release lineup. However, its theatrical release was later postponed to September.
