Man booked for stalking, threatening cabin crew member at Hyderabad airport

HYDERABAD: Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) police have registered a case against a 22-year-old man for stalking and threatening a 22-year-old cabin crew member of an airline at the airport on Wednesday evening.According to the complaint, the incident occurred around 6 pm on Aug 6 near the two-wheeler parking area close to an eatery at the airport.The complainant alleged that the accused began following her despite her repeatedly trying to avoid him by moving to different locations.When she was standing with a fellow crew member near the two-wheeler parking area, the accused approached them and made an objectionable and threatening remark.The cabin crew member raised an alarm following the incident, drawing the attention of bystanders, who intervened and alerted the police.She subsequently approached the airport police and lodged a complaint, stating that her job requires her to travel through the airport frequently, including late at night, and expressing concern for her safety.Based on her complaint, police registered a case against the accused, Naresh Naik of Shamshabad, under Sections 78 (stalking) and 79 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).“He is a mentally disturbed unemployed man. A notice was served to him as per law,” Airport outpost inspector B Kiran Kumar said.
