Tirupati: Tirupati district police wing arrested a notorious inter-state burglar involved in over 80 thefts across Andhra Pradesh and recovered gold and silver ornaments valued at approximately ₹14.87 lakh. The accused was identified as Karaka Raja Babu (47), a native of Anakapalli district.Police investigation revealed that Raja Babu was addicted to various vices and used to travel to different parts of the state in trains and indulged in various crimes including robberies on trains, theft of temple Hundi donation boxes, house burglaries. He was arrested numerous times in the past and had even served multiple jail sentences.Following a recent spike in house break-in crimes at Venkatagiri and Dakkili, special police teams were formed upon the directions of Tirupati SP L Subbarayudu.After maintaining a close surveillance, police arrested Raja Babu and recovered 64 grams of gold and 3.4 kgs of silver linked to 8 different offences reported at Dakkili, Venkatagiri and Bapatla.A dedicated police team mobilised following a recent surge in burglaries across the Venkatagiri and Dakkili regions. With the help of a combination of technical surveillance, digital forensics, and field intelligence, officers closely tracked the suspect’s movements before taking him into custody. The successful operation solved six burglary cases registered in Venkatagiri and Dakkili, alongside two cases in Bapatla.Tirupati SP urged citizens to adopt security measures, utilize the Locked House Monitoring System (LHMS) when traveling away from home, store valuables in bank lockers, and immediately report suspicious activities via Dial-112 or local police stations.
