Love affair angle in Hardoi double murder case, 5 held

Lucknow: Hardoi police on Saturday claimed to have solved the double murder of two Jal Jeevan Mission workers in Sandila, arresting 5 persons, including three juveniles. Police said the killings were the result of a conspiracy allegedly triggered by a relationship between one of the victims and the sister of a juvenile accused. The victims, Arun Chaurasia (26) and Abhishek alias Bablu Chaurasia (27), were found dead on July 30 near an under-construction Jal Jeevan Mission water tank where they were employed. An FIR was registered at Sandila police station on the complaint of Arun’s father. The complainant stated that Arun and Abhishek had left home on July 29 evening after being invited to a party and subsequently went missing. Their mobile phones remained unreachable throughout the night, and their bodies were discovered the next morning.SP, Hardoi, Ashok Meena said during investigation, police found that a juvenile accused was unhappy over his sister’s relationship with Arun. According to investigators, repeated efforts by the family to end the relationship had failed, leading to the planning of the murders with the help of associates, including Pramod and Kuldeep.Police said the accused prepared for the crime in advance by cutting a bamboo pole and making sticks that were hidden near the construction site. A countrymade pistol was also concealed there. On July 29, the victims were allegedly invited to a “cold drink party” at an under-construction building. Soft drinks, snacks and disposable cups were purchased before the group gathered on the rooftop.“The accused lured the victims at the site and launched the attack. Arun was allegedly struck with bamboo sticks. When Abhishek tried to escape, he was chased and assaulted. Both victims were attacked with sticks, bricks and stones. Arun was shot in the face after the attackers realised he was still alive,” said Meena. The breakthrough came through technical surveillance, call detail records and interrogation of suspects. Hardoi SP Ashok Meena said the arrested adults have been sent for judicial proceedings, while the three juveniles were produced before the Juvenile Justice Board.
